Five finalists announced for 2016 Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year

Five exceptional public school educators today were named finalists for the 2016 Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year.
The finalists were selected by a committee of educators, community members and business leaders from a preliminary round of semi-finalists. All five will be on stage at the 25th Anniversary EDDY Awards on Saturday, March 12, where one will be named 2016 Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year.

Fourteen outstanding public school teachers today were named semi-finalists for the 2016 Florida Blue Duval County Teacher of the Year.
The semi-finalists were selected from the Teachers of the Year nominated by every public school in Duval County. From the semi-finalists, five finalists will be selected and announced in February and the winner announced at the EDDY Awards on March 12.

The Community First Cares Foundation, the charitable arm of Community First Credit Union, announces the recipients of 10 PowerUP Jax innovation grants to public school teachers in Duval County. Each recipient will receive a $500 grant to support their in-class projects. A volunteer committee awarded the grants based on project proposals that were based on creativity and prioritized hands-on learning experiences to raise student achievement.
