Elizabeth Thomas wins the third PowerUP Jax Lightning Round

Our PowerUP Jax Lightning Round kicked off from February 23 and ran until March 7. There were more than 1,800 plus votes and 18 shares which show that the community supports creativity and innovation in the classroom!
We're excited to announce that Elizabeth Thomas, chemistry teacher at Darnell Cookman Middle/High School is the winner of the third Lightning Round! Elizabeth will receive an extra $150 toward her PowerUP Jax grant.
Elizabeth's students will have meaningful chemistry labs from growing crystals with chemicals, air in a bottle and even elephant toothpaste demonstrations! Learn more about Elizabeth's PowerUP Jax grant along with the other innovation grant winners for PowerUP Jax's spring cycle.
PowerUP Jax is an initiative of the Jacksonville Public Education Fund. It's a $500 competitive grant to fund innovative projects to raise student achievement. The Community First Cares Foundation, the lead sponsor of PowerUP Jax, believes in seeding innovation and rewarding creativity among public schools teachers. Since the inception, 102 innovative teacher projects have been fully funded to make an impact in the lives of local students.
