The 2013 Duval County Teacher of the Year, Apryl Shackelford, is now working in Miami public schools. She looks back on her time as Teacher of the Year as a pivotal moment in her career.

Florida Department of Education announces bonuses for teachers in high-needs public schools

"Our research has shown that low pay is a major reason why Duval County teachers leave the classroom, and we believe we must recruit and retain great teachers in our struggling schools to help close the opportunity gap."

School grades released: Duval County is a B district once again

In 2018-2019, Duval County was just four points from earning an A grade districtwide.

This year, there were more A schools and fewer C schools in the district, while the number of D and F schools held steady.
