The Jacksonville Public Education Fund was honored to partner with Healthy Start Coalition, the Jacksonville Kids Coalition and United Way of Northeast Florida and the Jacksonville Children's Commission for the 9th Annual Advocacy Training on November 10.
That's why we're excited to share Erin Addington of Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition summary of their annual advocacy workshop held each year for child-serving agencies in the region. We're thankful for meaningful collaborations that will help volunteers and nonprofit professionals become better advocates.

About a week ago, a group of national education organizations launched a new social media campaign to elevate the teaching profession called #TeachStrong. The effort, while long overdue, is notable for being a diverse coalition of organizations that often disagree with each other, including Teach For America, Educators for Excellence, TNTP and others, along with the nation’s two largest teacher’s unions — the AFT and NEA.

The Fourth Annual ONE by ONE Convention will be held on January 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lexington Hotel and Conference Center. Nearly 500 public education advocates will gather for a day filled with new information and lots of discussion around moving public education in the right direction!
Applications are currently being accepted for ONE by ONE Delegates.

That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce you to Katie Slajus, an AmeriCorps member for City Year, an organization that deploys diverse team of young adults to serve full-time as mentors and role models to help keep students in school and on track to graduate.

Before she began her teaching career, Kifimbo Holloway-Parnell was working at a catering event for the Special Olympics. She watched several people take the time to feed dessert to one of their disabled colleagues who wasn’t able to feed himself, doing so before even eating their own.
