Transportation Funding

Transportation Funding
Advocate for enhanced funding for transportation services, seeking an increase—potentially covering the full cost—within the Transportation Categorical of the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP). This adjustment would enable existing financial resources to be redirected toward initiatives that directly promote student success.
Previous research has found that access to transportation increases student attendance and lowers the probability of chronic absence, especially for students from families who are identified as economically disadvantaged (Sanderson Edwards, 2022). In Duval County, according to DCPS data, nearly half of the students (45%) were identified as economically disadvantaged in the 2024-2025 academic school year.
